RIYADH: AlUla, the historic heart of the Incense Route, has announced that visitors can now book tickets for a collection of extraordinary experiences at heritage sites for this year’s Festival of Ancient Kingdoms, which begins on the 7th november.

Presented by AlUla Moments, the festival returns with a packed schedule of daytime discoveries, adventure-filled explorations and theatrical journeys after dark, inspired by the stories of AlUla’s ancient past and brought to life by some of the best creators of immersive experiences in the world, according to an official press release.

Participating heritage sites include the Nabataean city of Hegra, Saudi Arabia’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site, Wadi Al-Naam, a spectacular valley of iconic rock art, and the mudbrick labyrinth of the Old city ​​of AlUla, recognized as one of the best tourist villages in the world.

Events include the “Incense Road Experience” in AlUla Old Town, an immersive adventure that takes visitors through a historic maze of atmospheric mudbrick buildings, where live performances and technology blend with interactive storytelling and explorations of archaeological treasures.

Intrigue lovers can look forward to “Masterpieces of the National Archaeological Museum of Naples,” an exhibition that will be held in Maraya, the largest mirrored building in the world.

Showcasing for the first time in Saudi Arabia, visitors will discover exceptional art history from Pompeii and Herculaneum, as well as iconic works depicting enduring icons such as Alexander the Great, Roman Emperor Trajan and Mark Aurelius.

Fan-favorite event “Hegra After Dark” is also back by popular demand, offering an even bigger and bolder glimpse into the ancient world than before. Acclaimed by travelers and media, this premier immersive nighttime summit returns to Saudi Arabia’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site with a magical “theater of life” expedition through the spectacular landscapes and Nabataean era.

The Ancient Kingdoms Festival program also includes Hegra’s drone show “Stories from the Sky”, a stunning audio-visual production that illuminates ancient monuments, and “Hegra Candlelit Classics”, which returns with a trio of unique immersive musical experiences of their kind.

The full offering of this year’s Ancient Kingdoms Festival also includes epic parades, treasure hunts in historic hunting grounds, yoga in the UNESCO World Heritage site Jabal Ikmah, sky tours in the Nabataean tombs and practical activities for families.
