On the occasion of the screening of her latest film, a biopic on the singer Maria Callas, Angelina Jolie walked the red carpet of the New York Film Festival accompanied by three of her six children, her eldest Maddox, Pax and Zahara.

Now that they are grown, Angelina Jolie’s six children regularly walk the red carpet alongside their mother. And this new premiere at the New York Film Festival this Sunday, September 29 was no exception. While she presented her latest film, a biopic on the singer Maria Callas entitled Mariathe actress came accompanied by her three eldest children: Maddox (23 years old), Pax (20 years old) and Zahara (19 years old).

For the occasion, the children of the actress and Brad Pitt were dressed to the nines. Maddox was dressed in an impeccable black suit, Pax, all smiles, was hidden behind his black sunglasses and Zahara beamed in a white satin dress with a plunging neckline. And if the actress took her children to the red carpet, it’s because their support mattered more than anything. “You know, before you start a new film, you’re nervous,” she told Extra . My kids just said to me, ‘Whatever happens mom, good luck and we know how hard you work and we love you.’

“They were there when I collapsed”

The 49-year-old actress also recounted how her children supported her at the start of filming, when she felt nervous about playing the singer hailed as one of the greatest talents of the 20th century.

“My boys were with me on set (…) They saw me learning to sing, they saw me practicing, they saw me nervous,” she said. They were there the first time I had to do it and I was terrified, and they were there when I broke down crying… So it was an interesting moment that allowed us to get closer to a different way.”

An emotion that she ultimately chose not to repress in front of her children. “Many of us who have children know that we don’t often cry in front of our children or show them certain things,” she continued. “So doing it, telling them it’s no big deal and being there for each other has been something very special.”
