In Paris, firefighting is entrusted to elite soldiers: the Paris fire Brigade. They are trained to face large-scale disasters: the fire at Notre-Dame in April 2019 or the explosion of a building on rue de Trévise in the 9th arrondissement three months earlier which killed two firefighters. In the heart of the largest metropolis in France, the slightest intervention can take on tragic dimensions: the burning of a garage in the middle of the night which threatens the surrounding homes, a huge fire which devastates a city in the 13th arrondissement, multiple fireplaces deliberately lit on festive evenings. Fire remains the most dangerous threat to the capital, its historical monuments and the palaces of the Republic. And to protect its inhabitants, Paris firefighters deploy spectacular means in the face of life-threatening emergencies such as strokes or heart attacks, sometimes even assisting Samu emergency workers in surgical operations in the middle of the streets of the capital.
