The idea seems crazy, but it’s very real. It was the company Fanvue, a competitor of OnlyFans, in partnership with the World AI Creator Awards which decided to organize a virtual Miss competition. Models, TV presenters, influencers or other women generated by artificial intelligence will be able to participate. The competition will be held on May 10. The winner will notably obtain a reward of 5,000 dollars, as well as 8,000 dollars in sponsorship.

According to the competition website, the objective of this event is to “recognize the work of AI creators around the world”. The competitors will be judged on their appearance, but also on the technical skills of their creator as well as their audience. They will also have to answer a series of questions such as: “If you could have a dream to make the world a better place, what would it be?”

The future Miss will be elected by a jury composed of two virtual models, Aitana Lopez and Emily Pellegrini and two humans, beauty pageant historian Sally-Ann Fawcett and entrepreneur Andrew Bloch.

If the organizers assure that this world first is a “step forward”, for the editorialist Arwa Mahdawi, on the contrary, “it is a huge step backward. AI models do not upset traditional beauty standards, They exaggerate them. They take every toxic gender-related beauty standard and package them into a completely unrealistic package,” she insists in the columns of The Guardian.
