The singer Yseult is one of the rare French women to have the honor of Tonight show by Jimmy Fallon.
Seduced by Yseult’s performance at the closing ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games on August 11, American host Jimmy Fallon invited her to his Tonight ShowThe singer performed her song there. Suicide.
“You’ve seen our next guest at the Olympic closing ceremony,” the host said.
Before her, the singer Philippe Katerine – hero of the opening show of the Olympic Games – had the honors of the American late show in 2017.
Last August at the Stade de France, Yseult delivered an interpretation of My Waythe resumption of As per usual Claude François by Frank Sinatra.
Millions of listens
The ceremony brought this piece back into the spotlight, but also on Yseult’s work. Spotify recorded a jump in listens to As per usual (+695% on Monday compared to the day before). The singer saw her number of listens increase by 12% worldwide the day after the event.
Yseult also collaborated with Brazilian drag queen Pabllo Vittar and Dutch-Iranian singer Sevdaliza on the track. Alibione of the most listened to tracks this summer, viewed nearly 109 million times on YouTube, and streamed more than 261 million times on Spotify.
Yseult is releasing her new project this Friday, September 20, entitled Mentaldescribed as “an artistic interlude”.
“Mentalthat’s the name I chose for my next project,” she announced on Instagram last May.Mental is not an EP, Mental is not an album. Mental is an artistic interlude that I plan to develop this year with my independent label.”
“New breath”
The singer interrupted her tour at the end of 2022 due to exhaustion, but also because of her “old entourage”, she argued a few months later. She then moved to the United States, to Los Angeles, to find a “new lease of life”.
“Los Angeles fits well with my mentality. I have met new people, the majority welcome my status as an artist, entrepreneur, manager, artistic director, producer, for them it is important to free oneself and be versatile.”
Revealed in 2014 by the TV talent show New StarYseult released a first eponymous album the following year. But the consecration arrived in 2019 with the EP Blackcritically acclaimed, and the title Body. She had been crowned female revelation at the 2021 Victoires de la Musique.
