Loreen accused of plagiarism for her title “Tattoo”

The song with which the Swedish artist won Eurovision has strange similarities to several other tracks.

What if Loreen’s victory in the Eurovision Song Contest on Saturday May 13, 2023 was a little too good to be true? This is what some Internet users seem to think, who have noted strange similarities between the Swedish song “Tattoo” and other titles.

Thus, on TikTok, a Eurovision fan posted a montage in which he alternates excerpts from “Tattoo” with passages from five songs – “Flying Free” by Pont Aeri, “The Winner Takes It All”, by ABBA, “In Captivity”, by Mika Newton, “Sketos Ego”, by Georgia Dagaki and “Frozen” by Madonna – and it is clear that the demonstration is rather convincing. It was enough for fans of the competition to ask for an investigation, or even for her prize to be withdrawn from the Swede.

A 7th victory for Sweden at Eurovision

Already in March 2023, similarities had been noted between the melody of “Tattoo” and that of the song by Ukrainian Mika Newton. At that time, Mika spoke on social media: “Friends, I don’t want to do drama, I don’t need it. And I want Loreen to win Eurovision again. Life is too short to argue over whether songs are the same or not. Some think so, others no. Please stop bombarding me with messages. Let’s support each other!”
