An unbalanced and fatty diet can have consequences for your health. But according to the findings of a recent study, the harmful effects could be even faster than you think. Specifically, researchers from the University of Oxford have found that eating too many cakes, crisps and burgers can start to damage the body in just three weeksThese results were presented at the European Society of Cardiology congress in London.

In this study, one group of participants was asked to eat a diet high in saturated fats or polyunsaturated fats. At the same time, another group was asked to eat foods containing polyunsaturated fats – such as oily fish and nuts. This experiment was conducted for 24 days. Specifically, saturated fats are found in foods such as butter, fatty meats, cakes, pastries and biscuits. As for polyunsaturated fats, they are found in foods such as oily fish, such as mackerel and salmon, sunflower oil and some nuts.

Increased bad cholesterol
