The world has changed. Not so long ago, the “classic” car was omnipotent, and the electric car was on the fringes. So, in a conversation, to situate a model, we could say “it’s the electric thingamajig, you see?”. For example: the Zoé was the electric Clio. Today, although it is still on the fringes commercially speaking, the electric car is the star of the show! And now it has attracted one of the most famous names in the automobile industry: Renault Scénic. But at Renault, we don’t mix apples and oranges. With the notable exception of the Mégane (for the moment), we don’t find the same name on both sides of the electric fence. So that’s why the Symbioz is the Symbioz, and not the “hybrid Scénic”.
By the way, the manufacturer cuts short one of our recurring criticisms: this mania for prolonging the life of a name that we associate with certain characteristics (Twingo, Scénic, Espace), on vehicles that no longer have anything to do with it. Here, Renault is starting from scratch, and the Symbioz can quietly make its place without living in the shadow of an illustrious predecessor. In our opinion, this is an excellent thing!
