Bribes – Iraqi justice has opened an investigation after “audio recordings attributed” to the head of the Transparency Agency and which concern alleged “bribes”

In Iraq, the integrity of the head of the Transparency Agency is in question. The Iraqi justice system announced on Wednesday the opening of an investigation following “audio recordings attributed” to the head of this anti-corruption authority and which concern alleged “bribes”.

The agency, chaired by Judge Haider Hanoun, immediately denounced “slander” in a statement, assuring that the sound clips were “fabricated.”

Agency denounces work of “electronic armies”

Circulating on social networks and picked up by the country’s media, an audio recording that appears to be taken from a conversation suggests that the judge received large sums of money and even a luxury car.

In the press release sent to journalists to defend Judge Hanoun, the communications department of the Anti-Corruption Authority announced a press conference this Thursday to “expose the facts and refute these slanders and inventions.” The text denounces the work of “electronic armies” who “fabricated sound clips attributed to the head of the authority” with the aim of “dissuading him from continuing” his mission and hindering the work of the institution.
