The first Café Mémoire of the year took place around a galette des Rois

the essential
On Wednesday January 8, the Auberge de la Halle hosted the first Alzheimer and Related Memory Café of the year.

In a friendly atmosphere, the association’s volunteers offered sick people, caregivers and all those interested the opportunity to taste the traditional King’s Cake, while taking stock of the significant events of December, in particular the meeting at the Vallon des Rêves in Labéjan and the discovery session at the Mirande Ludothèque.

This meeting also made it possible to present the Memory Café program for the first half of 2025. Led by volunteers and enriched by the expertise of a psychologist, these sessions are open to all: they provide useful information, help to better understand the disease, to anticipate its evolution and to improve communication with those affected. The objective is to create a space for speaking, listening and support, where everyone can exchange ideas in a peaceful setting. Among other actions, a relaxation workshop intended for caregivers was held Thursday January 9, in the Clarisses room, led by Martine Despax (07 89 62 23 62).

Permanence and discussion group

In addition, the “Welcome and listen” hotline will be held on Thursday, January 16, from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., in room no. 2 of the Poor Clares. For any information or to make an appointment, you should contact Yolande Serra on 06 88 30 26 82. And finally, a support group, specifically designed to support caregivers, is also offered: information and registration with the doctor in psychology Victoire Deltour, at 06 33 74 01 92. These initiatives demonstrate the ongoing commitment of France Alzheimer Gers to improve the quality of life of families and individuals reached.

The association would like to underline the involvement of the “helping” municipality of Mirande, which graciously makes its rooms available, thus facilitating the organization of these moments of exchange. For more information, France Alzheimer Gers can be reached on 05 62 05 24 52 (Monday, Tuesday and Friday, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.).
