The average length of stay on a stretcher decreased by 1.3 hours, from 19.2 to 17.9 hours this year, according to Santé Québec.

Santé Québec says it has been working for nearly six months on preparing for the winter season during which many viruses circulate. “This is the first time this year that we wanted to prepare for winter in the summer,” says Frédéric Abergel.
Santé Québec analyzed the occupancy rate and average length of stay on stretchers in 55 hospitals in Quebec with more than 100 beds. “Two thirds have improved for both indicators and a quarter for one of the two indicators,” indicates Frédéric Abergel. Seven deteriorated for both indicators. »

According to IndexSanté, the stretcher occupancy rate stood at 133% on Friday morning. It reached 155% in Lanaudière, 162% in the Laurentians and 147% in Montreal.
