The Millau hospital is now equipped with a latest generation mammograph.
Thursday, January 9, late in the morning, the inauguration of the new mammograph at the Millau hospital center took place. A latest generation device, which equips doctors “the same technology as that used within the CHU in Montpellier”specify the professor and head of the Hérault department Nicolas Menjot de Champfleur and Doctor Emmanuelle Pages-Bouic.
For almost a year and a half, a partnership between the Montpellier University Hospital and the Millau hospital center has been in place, with doctors coming to the city of the glove on certain days of the week. More than the acquisition of the new device, welcomed by health professionals, it is a care pathway in female medical imaging which was inaugurated on Thursday. “The space dedicated to the mammogram and ultrasound has been redesigned, explains the professor. Before the flow of patients was not ergonomic, now the ultrasounds can be done in another room, which makes it possible to take care of the patients following them.”
Cutting-edge technology
Biopsies can also be carried out on the Millavois site, which allows “comprehensive patient care”. With this new mammograph, “image volume and detection sensitivity are increased”adds Doctor Emmanuelle Pages-Bouic, delighted “to offer patients the same cutting-edge technology as at the CHU“. The mammograph was jointly financed by the ARS and the Millau Hospital, for a total amount of €240,000.
Every day, nearly 30 patients benefit from this equipment – mammograph and ultrasound – from the imaging department of the Millau hospital center. “A number greater than that of the CHU, underlines Professor Nicolas Menjot de Champfleur. There is a very strong demand.”
