This certification is recognition of the strategy implemented by the Bank in the field of energy efficiency, with the aim of promoting rational energy management, encouraging the use of renewable energies and reducing its footprint. carbon.
The renewal of ISO 50001 certification, in its 2018 version, marks a key step in the sustainable approach initiated by the Bank more than eight years ago. It also reinforces its leadership role in terms of rational energy management.
Since the adoption, in 2016, of an Energy Management System (EMS) meeting the ISO 50001 standard, BCP has been part of a dynamic of continuous improvement. In 2023, the revision of its energy policy to comply with the 2018 version of this certification made it possible to integrate the most advanced practices in this area, while strengthening the commitment of all of its managerial strategies, in this eco-responsible approach. The implementation of the EMS made it possible to reduce the Bank's electricity bill by 17%, thanks to concrete initiatives, including:
• Modernization of lighting systems: through the conversion of installations to energy-efficient LED solutions.
• Optimization of energy management: by installing intelligent systems to monitor and reduce energy consumption.
• Renovation of energy-intensive infrastructures: through the adoption of innovative technologies, such as those allowing energy recovery and “Inverter” systems.
• Improving Data Centers: with the implementation of efficient cooling solutions adapted to needs.
• The promotion of renewable energies: through the use of solar thermal and photovoltaic energy to produce clean energy.
Thanks to these efforts, BCP has achieved an energy gain equivalent to 104 million DH since 2016, while aligning its practices with international standards and Morocco's environmental challenges. A long-term commitment The EMS deployed within BCP allows it to maximize its energy efficiency, continuously identify opportunities for improvement and optimize its carbon accounting.
In this regard, ISO 50001 v2018 certification confirms its firm desire to go even further in structuring its energy initiatives. In 2024, the Bank plans to expand its scope to new sites, as part of the deployment and consolidation of its energy strategy. With this certification, BCP reaffirms its ambition to combine environmental responsibility, sustainable innovation and operational excellence to generate a positive impact on the economy and society.
