Ourika tunnel, final studies in progress

The Minister of Equipment and Water, Nizar Baraka, indicated on Tuesday that his department is looking into the preparation of final studies to determine the overall cost of the Ourika tunnel project.

In his response to questions on roads, during the weekly session of oral questions in the House of Advisors, Mr. Baraka clarified that the preliminary and geological studies of the project have already been carried out, noting that the ministry is now looking into the studies inside the tunnel to determine its overall cost.

In this regard, the minister explained that following the inability of the winning companies to begin carrying out studies inside the tunnel, it was decided to cancel the contract and launch a new call for tenders.

He thus noted the fundamental importance of this tunnel, while emphasizing the government's desire to carry out the project in accordance with the High Royal Guidelines.

Concerning the road projects, Mr. Baraka recalled the end of the work on the Tiznit-Dakhla expressway, stressing that this project testifies to the great achievements falling within the concept of territorial unity and contributing to connecting the different regions of the country. , from North to South of the Kingdom.

Regarding the connection of the Marrakech-Agadir highway to the entrance to the Tiznit-Dakhla expressway, he specified that the ministry is working on carrying out preliminary studies with a view to extending this highway to the entrance of the Tiznit-Dakhla expressway, over 77 kilometers, at a cost of 6 billion DH.
