Last week, 54 new cases of dengue fever were reported to the health monitoring office. The total number of reported cases is 508 since the start of the reported outbreak. An upward trend in incidence is observed in the Leeward Islands (ISLV) and the Tuamotus (TG), despite a decreasing positivity rate, remaining however around 40%.
Two new hospitalizations of less than 48 hours were also reported. Since the start of the epidemic, no severe cases or deaths have been reported to the BVSO.
Concerning whooping cough, 22 new cases were reported. Among them, 20 cases were sampled or reside in Tahiti, 1 in Raiatea and 1 in Raroia. This first case on the island of Raroia travels regularly to the island of Tahiti, so it is not an indigenous case.
Among the cases reported in S50, 2 are infants under 12 months, 4 are children between 1 and 4 years old, 7 are people between 5 and 19 years old, 9 are between 20 and 79 years old. and none is over 80 years old. S50.
Whooping cough continues to circulate actively in Tahiti, but also in the Leeward Islands and on certain Tuamotu islands.
Among all the cases investigated since the start of the epidemic, 18 people required hospitalization, including 14 infants aged 12 months or younger. A death in an infant was reported in W46.
However, a downward trend in the overall incidence seems to be confirmed over the last 2 weeks, as well as in the positivity rate (10.4%), suggesting the beginning of a decline in the epidemic.
