This Thursday, December 19, the emergency paramedical team, accompanied by the CGT union, invaded the supervisory board of the Auch hospital center. The goal: to make their demands heard in the face of the lack of doctors in the emergency room.

Under light rain, the emergency paramedical team of the Auch hospital center, accompanied by the CGT union, headed to the establishment’s board of directors this Thursday. In their ranks, anger is growing.

“We are going to invade the supervisory board in the presence of its president,” assures the union. The action is intended to be a response to “the seriousness regarding the lack of doctors in emergency rooms which could lead, in the weeks to come, to serious consequences on patient care”.
Towards a strike notice
After more than an hour of discussion, tension is at its peak. “It was going in circles,” laments Célia Paz, CGT general secretary at the Auch CH. “We are therefore going to file a strike notice.” The demands, carried by the hospital center’s paramedical team, have nevertheless remained the same for several weeks.

“They want to resolve night transport for patients returning home, because some patients are forced to wait in the morning for transport to be available and spend the night in the emergency room for nothing,” adds Célia Paz.

Among the other demands: the creation of a nurse and caregiver position, mainly at night and from Monday to Sunday. Also, the stop closing beds in the departments, “they find themselves hospitalizing patients in the emergency room, who can stay 48 to 72 hours on stretchers”.
Finally, the paramedical team requests closer communication with management, the purchase of a Smur vehicle, appropriate training and the maintenance of the emergency short-term hospitalization unit (UHCD) and the Smur.
