Fear of the dentist, although common, could soon become a distant memory for patients at Rennes University Hospital. The hospital center recently integrated an innovative tool into its technological arsenal: the electronic pen QuickSleeperdesigned to make dental anesthesia quick, precise and virtually painless. This device marks an important step in improving the well-being of patients and the comfort of practitioners.
A revolution in dental care
Traditionally, dental anesthesia relies on injections with needles, often a source of stress and pain for patients. With the QuickSleeper, developed by the French company Dentalhitecthe process is redesigned. This electronic pen allows a direct intraosseous injection which quickly anesthetizes up to six teeth, in just a few seconds. The entire procedure is not only more comfortable for the patient, but also less stressful for the dentist.
According to specialized studies, the majority of patients prefer this method because of its effectiveness and gentleness. The impact is particularly notable among children, who are often reluctant to receive dental care. The risk of caregivers being bitten, which is common with traditional methods, is also considerably reduced.
A technology financed by Breton solidarity
The acquisition of these innovative tools was made possible thanks to the support of Fund Nominoesan endowment fund launched by the Rennes University Hospital to finance concrete projects intended to improve care and reception conditions for patients. Since its creation, this fund has raised more than two million euros from donors and patrons.
The QuickSleeper is just one of the many projects supported by the Nominoë Fund. Recent achievements include the renovation of reception areas for families of hospitalized children and the development of a biobank in Pontchaillou, which will centralize patients’ biological samples for scientific research.
Other initiatives are also underway, in particular to improve the quality of meals served to patients. These advances demonstrate Rennes University Hospital’s commitment to offering modern care, respectful of patients’ needs and driven by innovation.
Building the future of health in Brittany
With the support of donors, large and small, the Nominoë Fund continues to transform the Breton hospital landscape and partially fill the State’s failings in health matters. Each contribution helps finance concrete projects that improve the quality of care. Thanks to this outpouring of solidarity, the Rennes University Hospital is establishing itself as a key player in medical innovation and patient well-being.
The QuickSleeper pen perfectly illustrates this ambition: to enable more humane dental care, reduce pain and stress, and offer everyone a less dreaded medical experience. A small revolution which will hopefully inspire other establishments to follow this example.
