The municipality invites the residents concerned to be screened.
Part of this public garden is now closed as a safety measure for the population. This is a grassy area of the Children's Square in the commune of Franc-Moisin in Seine-Saint-Denis. The cause is an abnormally high concentration of lead in the soil, warns Le Parisien.
The discovery took place during surveys carried out in anticipation of urban renovation work in the area, particularly schools. The ARS then revealed “lead concentrations higher than expected”, leading her to push further investigations, particularly in play areas frequented by children.
Following the results concerning this square, the city recommends screening by taking a blood test for children and pregnant women attending it in order to “measure the concentration of lead in the blood” and to protect yourself from any risk of lead poisoning. Small children risk ingesting contaminated soil by playing on the ground and then putting their fingers in their mouth. Lead poisoning is a serious illness that can have serious consequences on the child's psychomotor development.
