Antibiogo: a key diagnostic test in the fight against antimicrobial resistance

MSF knows this global challenge well. For several years, MSF has integrated the fight against AMR into its operations, aware that antimicrobial resistance represents a direct danger for patients treated in our structures. It is in this context that the Antibiogo project was born, in response to a crucial need on the ground: that of having simple, accessible diagnostic solutions adapted to local realities.

Antibiogo, an accessible and effective response

Antibiogo positions itself as a reliable and accessible solution. Using image processing and artificial intelligence, the application allows laboratory technicians to measure inhibition diameters on antibiograms and helps them interpret the results, even without expertise in microbiology. It also works offline, an essential asset in areas with low connectivity. Thus, Antibiogo offers analytical support where access to experts is limited and saves valuable time in the diagnosis and treatment of infections.

Adama Sanogo, bacteriological supervisor at the MSF hospital in Koutiala, Mali, says: “ Antibiogo helps us improve the quality of our antibiograms, a key factor in patient treatment. For less experienced technicians, the application simplifies the reading and interpretation of results, allowing resistance to be detected quickly and treatments adapted accordingly. »
