the ‘Colon Tour’ stops in Sète to raise awareness about colorectal cancer

The Colon Tour is coming to Sète on November 23 to provide information on colorectal cancer screening.

The Hôpitaux du Bassin de Thau (HBT) and the City of Sète will host the Colon Tour® on Thursday, November 23. This event will be held on Place Léon Blum, in front of the town hall, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. This free initiative aims to inform and raise awareness about colorectal cancer screening, a disease which affects 48,000 people each year In .

Crucial awareness for public health

The colorectal cancer remains the second deadliest cancer in France. However, early detection can cure nine out of ten patients. Despite this observation, only 34.3% of French people participate in national screening. The HBT and the City of Sète are joining forces to strengthen prevention in the region and encourage the people of Sète to adopt this simple but vital gesture.

An immersive experience with the Colon Tour®

The Colon Tour® offers an original educational approach: a 6-meter inflatable structure reproducing a human colon. Visitors can explore its interior to visualize the lesions linked to this pathology. This unique experience helps to better understand the importance of early detection.

On site, specialists in gastroenterology, oncology and surgery of Hospitals of the Thau Basin will be available to answer questions and interact with the public. Interactive activities will complete this educational and fun day.

Screening accessible to all

Sétois aged 50 to 74, the main targets of this campaign, will be able to obtain a free screening kit. Available in pharmacies, at the doctor’s office or online at monkit.depistage-colorectal.fr, this simple test is recommended every two years. Kits will also be distributed directly on site.

The HBT and the City of Sète invite all residents to participate in this free event, open to all. Together, they want to make screening a reflex to save lives and effectively fight colorectal cancer.
