in Anjou, action with caregivers based on an emotional bond with the patient

After producing a video on consent and elderly people in the world of Alzheimer’s in November 2023, the French Association of Conjugal Consultation Centers of Maine-et- (AFCCC 49) set up an awareness-raising action among caregivers. This, entitled “Intimacy of the bond and Alzheimer’s disease” will take place at the Clic de l’Anjou Bleu in Segré, and will begin Friday, November 8. Free, it includes five sessions which will last until January 31 (1).

Emotional life, consent…

« We will address everything that is emotional, relational and sexual life, explains Claire Labaune, project development manager within the association. How do we maintain this link while taking illness into account? There is also the question of consent, how to know if the sick person consents or not. But this action does not only concern couples, it can be children, loved ones who want to know how to keep a bond, maintain a relationship. »

Before implementing this action, AFCCC 49 surveyed the ground following the broadcast of its video produced with the support of the DRDFE (Regional Directorate for Women’s Rights and Equality). Feedback from professionals showed a need for caregivers.

Same story from the volunteers of Alzheimer 49, a partner in this action in the same way as Familles Rurales 49, the latter offering to take care of those assisted during the sessions.

“Don’t feel alone”

“Being in a group allows you not to feel alone in this situation, to talk between caregivers, all while respecting confidentiality”adds Claire Labaune.
