A conference on stroke and heart failure organized in Challans

The Atout coeur Vendée association, in partnership with the social action service of the City of Challans (Vendée), is organizing a conference on the causes, symptoms, treatments and means of prevention of strokes, this Saturday 26 october.

The conference is divided into two parts. The first will be led by Doctor Julie Darchis, cardiologist at the Machecoul rehabilitation center. She will address heart failure which affects a million people in . A figure that is constantly increasing: in ten years, it would have increased by 30% due in particular to changes in our lifestyles, stress, sedentary lifestyle, diet, etc.

At least 70% of strokes could be prevented

The second part will focus on strokes. It is Andréa Frappier, nurse at the Les Oudairies departmental hospital center (CHD) in La Roche-sur-Yon who will lead it. In France, 150,000 people suffer from stroke each year, making it the leading cause of disability in adults. Prevention can reduce risks and at least 70% of strokes could be avoided.

An association based in Vendée, Atout coeur participates in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases and the information of cardiac patients and their families. It also financially supports medical research in cardiology and promotes the comfort of patients by making donations to hospital centers in Vendée.
