Mâcon Infos – Le Web Journal du Mâconnais – MÂCON

The Saône-et- Health Insurance Fund (Sécu) engaged in Organized breast cancer screening welcomes the photographs of Magali Butny throughout the month of Pink October. This exhibition on the gates of the Caisse gives a view but also a voice to women who have gone through the ordeal of breast cancer.

Patricia Courtial, director of the CPAM, gave the context of this exhibition during the opening this morning: “As part of a call for projects and a partnership, Health Insurance and the Les Fées Papillons association decided to join forces to promote breast cancer screening. It was then that the idea of the “portraits & words of women” exhibition was born. Through the latter, it is about promoting women faced with breast cancer, evoking the perspective of others, self-image and above all the importance of being detected as early as possible. »

Each photo of the young artist from Mâcon is a message imbued with emotion to affirm, she says, “the strength, the power and the resilience of all women, a call to overcome fears. »

This opening was also an opportunity to give a voice to those who have gone through this ordeal: Magali Butny, Catherine Sanguard, VP of the Butterfly Fairies association, Cécile Bergeret and Virginie Decrat spoke about their journey through the illness, with a moving sensitivity, but also with a courageous and stimulating desire to live. All highlighted the essential and life-saving step of screening.

Nathalie Courtial repeated her message: “Breast cancer screening: simple and effective. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women: nearly one in eight women will face it. The earlier it is detected, the easier it is to treat and the higher the chances of recovery. This cancer with a good prognosis can be cured in 9 out of 10 cases. There is a 99% 5-year survival rate for a cancer detected at an early stage and only 26% for a cancer diagnosed at a late stage. Detecting breast cancer at an early stage of its development can considerably increase the chances of cure.

Health Insurance allows women aged 50 to 74 to benefit from a 100% covered screening examination every 2 years.

In Saône et Loire, 57% of women aged 50 to 74 have had a mammogram, either as part of organized screening or individual screening. This is a good result compared to the national result: 46.5%, but it is still too little. Screening, go ahead!

Health Insurance is called upon to contribute to accelerating the preventive shift in the health system and places its action with the objective of contributing to the reduction of health inequalities with particular attention to people in vulnerable situations. »
