In Bagnols-sur-Cèze, around fifteen volunteers joined the League Against Cancer. These members all got involved for similar reasons. “We decided to mobilize to help those affected because we have been linked to the disease, whether it is a family member, friends or ourselves, testify the volunteers. We show kindness by raising awareness and renewing dialogue.”
The League Against Cancer is a national, non-governmental association. The organization is structured into departmental committees, including that of Gard. These branches branch out into several delegations in towns in the department, such as Bagnols-sur-Cèze. The association relies on donations from individuals and businesses. Each fund raised helps finance research into all cancers and helps patients and caregivers.
Supporting patients and caregivers
Bagnolese volunteers have several missions. Volunteers participate in awareness raising and organize activities. The association provides supportive care in adapted physical activity in conjunction with the Bagnols sports and health center, individual psychological support, dietary care, sophrology, etc. This care is covered by the League for the three years following the processing times.
“We feel that there are a lot of requests for listening and helpsays Nina Ehrmann, head of the Bagnolais delegation. We are faced with all types of situations, whether tragedies, isolated people or people in financial difficulty. We have a lot of demand and we try to listen.”
The Bagnolais branch also has several partnerships. The head of the delegation is on call every Thursday at the Bagnols-sur-Cèze hospital center. The association is also linked with the Nursing Training Institute to provide prevention and awareness.
