Taxi drivers in the center region were invited to an awareness conference on HIV/AIDS and STIs, jointly organized by the National Council for the Informal Economy and the Permanent Secretariat for these Diseases. This meeting, which was held on January 25, 2024 in Ouagadougou, aimed to inform and equip the participants with tools necessary to protect themselves.

According to the Statistical Directory of the Ministry of Transport of 2020, it appears that the only city of Ouagadougou had nearly 2,000 taxis in 2012. This figure increased to more than 5,000 taxis in 2020, an increase of more than 50%.
Aware of this issue, the National Council of Informal Economy, in collaboration with the Permanent Secretariat for the Fight against ISTs, launched a vast awareness -raising operation with taxi professionals. The Center region was the latest to benefit from this initiative on January 25, 2025.
