From this Thursday, January 23, Qualitair indicates that Corsica will be affected by a new episode of fine particle pollution from the Sahara. The organization explains “that a flow from the south will bring desert dust into the air of our region, which will lead to a possible exceeding of the first regulatory threshold”.
Qualitair’s recommendations
If these particles are indeed of natural origin, they still present a risk to the health of sensitive and vulnerable people (pregnant women, young children, people over 65 or suffering from cardiac or respiratory pathologies). Qualitair recommends favoring short outings that require little effort. In the event of respiratory or cardiac discomfort, it is necessary to seek advice from a healthcare professional. If you are subject to medical treatment, seek advice from your doctor if, where applicable, it needs to be adapted.
For the entire population, the organization recommends in particular favoring short journeys and non-polluting modes of travel. It is also advisable to avoid recreational fires or barbecues, as well as to limit the use of organic solvents or solvent-based materials.
