Our diet has become globalized, ultra-processed, our lives have become sedentary, creating fertile ground for chronic metabolic and inflammatory diseases. The diseases of “too much”, obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure have exploded, could “little” be the cure?

Medically supervised fasting has proven over the past 20 years to produce remarkable therapeutic effects. What are its effects? What fast are we talking about? Who is it for? What about intermittent fasting? What if evolution had designed us to fast?

With Sylvie Gilman et Thierry de Lestradejournalist, director, documentary filmmakers, their latest documentary: “Fasting, investigation into a phenomenon”, produced by ARTE, released on January 25, 2025. This film continues the investigation carried out in 2012 for: “Fasting, a new therapy”. The authors are also publishing an expanded edition of the book “Fasting, a new therapeutic path”, published by La Découverte (2025).

The recipe

Carrot and lentil curry

Ingredients : 100 g of green lentils / 105 g of organic carrots / 25 g of onion / 1 pinch of cumin, cinnamon, turmeric, curry, 1 bay leaf, 1 clove, 1/4 clove of garlic, 1 pinch of turmeric / 3 sprigs of coriander / 3 tbsp of crushed tomatoes.

Wash the lentils, cook for 20 minutes with the bay leaf and cloves.

Wash and slice the carrots and onion. Sweat the onions over low heat, add the garlic, carrots, then the tomatoes, and the spices. Cook over low heat for 30 minutes, add 10 cl of water during cooking.

Salt, pepper, add the coriander.

And you can serve!
