The flu epidemic forced nearly a hundred French hospitals to trigger the white plan. This is not the case for the Cornouaille hospital center (Chic), in Quimper and Concarneau (Finistère).
“We are in difficulty with our emergencies, confides the director of Chic, Yann Dubois. Today (Friday January 17, 2025), we went back to 3 on the HET scale (hospital device in tension, scale goes from 1 to 4) after a calmer start to the week. Overall, we are better than a few days ago. The situation was dramatic last week in the emergency room due to the flu epidemic. »

Doctor Pascal Hutin, president of the establishment medical commission, adds: “We asked ourselves the question last Thursday (January 9) to trigger it or not. »
“We took measures”
-In the end, Chic did not implement it. “The white plan allows hospitals to recall professionals from rest, we judged that this was not necessary, explains Yann Dubois. Despite everything, we took action. We have not canceled operations to avoid postponements of care, but we have done less programming. We recovered addiction beds for emergencies. »

Given the increase in cases of flu and respiratory syndromes, the Cornouaille hospital center reminded, Wednesday January 8, “the right reflexes to adopt” such as calling 15 or your attending physician, before going to the emergency room.
Yann Dubois emphasizes that “according to the data, the peak (from the flu) hasn’t arrived yet » and appeals, “particularly with regard to vaccination, to collective awareness”.
