On Tuesday, the Roanne hospital center triggered the hospital plan under pressure due to the sharp increase in hospital activity, particularly linked to the winter flu epidemic. “It’s the first stage of the rocket, the antechamber of the white plan,” explains Christian Baujard, general secretary of the FO union at the Roanne hospital. “This means that a crisis unit is set up, with increased coordination between establishments, to evacuate patients to other establishments. Except the others are just as busy, if not more so. » Since Friday, the Saint-Etienne University Hospital has in fact activated the white plan.
Unions deplore “lack of anticipation”
In the emergency room of the Roanne hospital center, activity was very high during the weekend of January 4-5. It was down slightly during the last weekend of 11-12, but activity remains very high. “This is the problem with the downstream beds. There, management has opened beds occasionally in specialty departments, but this remains temporary,” continues Christian Baujard. “In the past, we opened a seasonal or buffer service while waiting for patients to be assigned. There, we proposed opening beds in the Bonvert annex (Mably), because a service is equipped, but the management tells us that it is too far away and that they do not have the healthcare team to abound.” The secretary of the CGT union, Crystel Coste deplores “the lack of anticipation”. “The situation was the same last year and will be the same next year, every year, it’s the same problem,” notes Christian Baujard.
