The vaccination campaign against the influenza virus has been underway since last October.
However, recent epidemiological data shows a sharp increase in influenza virus contamination in recent days.
This epidemic peak has the direct consequence of putting pressure on the healthcare system, particularly hospitals, and overcrowding emergency services.
The Directorate General of Health therefore invites all health professionals concerned by vaccination campaigns against seasonal flu and in particular community pharmacists, to intensify communication with their patients, particularly those at risk, around the following elements :
- Reminder of necessary and effective barrier gestures against the spread of the virus (hand washing, wearing a mask when people are contaminated).
- Encouragement to be vaccinated when people are at risk of developing a severe form of the flu.
In order to support these last weeks of flu circulation and due to the holding of insufficient stocks in certain community pharmacies across the national territory, the ministry wishes to communicate on the gradual provision of additional doses of the following vaccines to: wholesalers-distributors:
- Fluarix Tetra (GSK Laboratory): available now;
- Vaxigrip Tetra (Sanofi-Pasteur Laboratory): in the coming days depending on authorization deadlines;
- Influvac Tetra (Laboratoire Viatris): to be confirmed.
The ministry is counting on the mobilization of health professionals to ensure optimal supplies necessary to cover the needs of the population, in the interest of public health.
