Faced with the flu epidemic, 34 hospitals have triggered their “white plan” in Brittany, indicates the Regional Health Agency. Establishments located in Morbihan, Côtes-d’Armor and Ille-et-Vilaine. Only Finistère has no structure with the “white plan” activated to date.
This system makes it possible to deprogram certain operations, to recall staff from leave and to bring in reinforcements from other services to cope with the influx of patients and increase hospitalization capacities. The winter flu epidemic intensified at the beginning of January and caused hospitalizations at an “exceptionally high” level in France, compared to previous seasons, observed Public Health France.
A departmental “white plan” in Ille-et-Vilaine
In Ille-et-Vilaine, the tension on health structures is such that the ARS has triggered the “white plan” at the departmental level. The 30 establishments, whether public (CHRU Rennes, CH Bain-de-Bretagne, CHI Redon, etc.) or private (Clinique de la Côte d’Émeraude, HPS Cesson), have been on a “white plan” since January 9 . “This measure will be monitored in order to limit its duration,” warns the ARS.
The emergency rooms in Rennes are particularly congested. “We had 40 patients on stretchers in the emergency room on Wednesday morning,” says Professor Louis Soulat, head of the adult emergency department. “There was a patient who had been on a stretcher in a hallway for over 24 hours. The reception conditions are beyond belief with very elderly patients on stretchers for more than ten hours,” adds the CGT.
To regulate arrivals, the ARS has made it compulsory to call 15 before going to the adult and pediatric emergencies for the Rennes CHRU and the private hospitals of Cesson-Sévigné and Saint-Grégoire. Regulation in place from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m., until January 20.
A device activated for a week in three hospitals in Morbihan
In Morbihan, only the hospital centers of Ploërmel, Vannes and Pontivy have activated their “white plan” for a week. “The situation remains very tense for critical care beds (…) but the flow of patients seems a little less important and the volume of available medical beds (…) is improving,” indicates management.
In Côtes-d’Armor, the Saint-Brieuc hospital center, the specialized medical institute of Plancoët and the Clinique du Pays de Dinan have triggered the system. “The emergency rooms in Saint-Brieuc were hot throughout the holidays,” confirms Régis Pineau, from the CGT union at the Yves-Le Foll hospital center. And a caregiver whispers: “The situation is really tense. »
