4. BugEra is a pioneering company that uses advanced genetic engineering to create new strains of Black Soldier Fly (BSF) that increase oil production. By removing barriers to BSF culture, BugEra produces sustainable oils that can replace traditional edible oils and biofuels. Its process also allows for the recycling of various organic wastes, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions from fuels and waste while advancing the circular economy.
Yoav Etgar, co-founder and CEO of BugEra: “ Our process helps Israel overcome some of its food security problems by becoming self-sufficient in producing its own proteins for animal feed and agriculture …This industry will make it possible to use BSF as a bio-converter of organic waste into alternative proteins, alternative oil for animal feed, agriculture and biofuels, and thereby promote Israel’s self-sufficiency capabilities. »
