Viral disease, caused by an arbovirus and transmitted by the bite of various arthropods, including mosquitoes, the main arboviruses are yellow fever and dengue. Arboviruses are on the rise. Dengue, chikungunya, and more recently in South America, a virus transmitted by culicoides, Oropouche.

There are no cases yet in , but the overall situation is under surveillance. Denis Alexis Alphonse, head of the ARS monitoring and alert department:

Arboviruses constitute a large family of viral diseases transmitted mainly by mosquitoes, but also potentially by other insects such as midges. Today, among these arboviruses, dengue is the only one to have been actively circulating in Martinique since October.

In this context, and particularly given the heavy rains which affect the territory, it should be remembered that the measures to be able to combat the circulation of arboviruses involve the elimination of mosquito breeding grounds, but also of midges. With the elimination of stagnant water, piles of plants near houses. Individually, we also remind you that you must protect yourself from mosquito bites, by using repellents, mosquito nets or even covering clothing. So, all these measures, whether individual or collective, help to fight against the circulation of arboviruses.
