Today, breast cancer screening is made easier thanks to mobile equipment which circulates in Ariège, but also in Aude and Gers. On Wednesday December 11, the mobile made a stopover in Saint-Paul-de-Jarrat.
As breast cancer becomes more and more common among women, prevention and rapid screening must become essential reflexes.
To reduce the delays in accessing a mammogram, currently estimated at around five months, and to compensate for the lack of specialist doctors, the ARS and the CPAM have set up a vehicle specially equipped for this activity.
This system primarily targets women aged 50 to 74 years and 10 months, the age group where the risk is highest. By getting closer to the population, it simplifies the procedures for obtaining rapid medical advice.
Appointments can be made online on the Doctolib website, which also specifies the location of the vehicle. For people who have difficulty with IT, a telephone number is available: 06 29 70 77 83. The daily examination capacity is 45 people.
The system, managed by the Ariège Prévention Mobile association, mobilizes a team made up of a radio operator, a secretary and the vehicle driver. After each examination, the images are analyzed for the first time by a radiologist, then submitted to the regional cancer coordination and screening center for a second reading.
At a time when obtaining a medical appointment within a reasonable time frame is increasingly complicated, the “mammobile” offers a practical and rapid solution for effective screening.
