The Haute- Cancer League inaugurates its new premises

The Haute- Cancer League has taken up residence in its new premises, located on the ground floor at 17 avenue Charles-Dupuy. A big change for the association which left 12 avenue Clément-Charbonnier where it had been based since 1991.

“It is not a luxury choice, but a necessity”

The place had become much too cramped. “With the development of the League, we noticed that these premises had become unsuitable for accommodating a larger number of patients,” explains Hélène Bérard, the president of the association, before continuing. It is not a luxury choice, but rather a necessity to offer our patients a warm welcome, a cocoon and a place to listen in a suitable setting. »

Once the observation was made, the League therefore set its sights on the premises located at 17 avenue Charles-Dupuy, where it moved on April 29. A breath of fresh air both for the association, increased from 56 to 160 m2, as well as for the volunteers and the sick. “It’s much nicer. We can receive people in a more adapted environment conducive to exchange and confidentiality,” relishes Anne Villebrun, the vice-president of the League. With a more cozy and warm atmosphere, the association has plenty of time to develop its activities to support patients in their fight. It offers them psychological and aesthetic treatments, massages, naturopathy, sophrology, gym and even support groups.

Workshops which are very successful. “In 2024, 355 people participated,” says Valérie Astier, the coordinator of the League. This change of address is therefore a big change for the Ligue de Haute-Loire. And it is to the volunteers and associations that she owes it. Their mobilization allowed the League to raise funds to change premises and support research and patients. “In 2024, we donated €52,115 to hospitals, €47,500 to regional research, €63,500 to national research, €50,000 for supportive oncological care and €20,000 in social commissions, for a total of €233,115,” welcomes Hélène Bérard.

Practical. The premises of the League Against Cancer are open Monday to Thursday, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
