Movember: AGL and Congo Terminal alongside their collaborators against prostate cancer

On November 27, 2024, more than 500 employees of Congo Terminal and AGL Congo participated in awareness raising led by a cancer specialist, Doctor Eliezer MASSAMBA under the theme “prostate cancer, how to prevent it?”

Discovery of risky behaviors, symptoms of prostate cancer and available treatments, officers were encouraged to closely follow prevention measures and carry out early detection.

“Prostate cancer is the most common in men. We encourage systematic screening from the age of 45,” explains Doctor Massamba. Practicing regular sporting activity is a key point of prevention measures, just like lifestyle choices. To this end, as a prelude to raising awareness, on November 23, 2024, the male employees of Congo Terminal all services formed a typical football team “FC Conteneurs” and faced in a friendly match the typical team of AGL Congo Pointe-Noire “FC Ship”.

“At AGL, the month of November is an opportunity to highlight men’s health topics. We raise awareness among our employees of health issues affecting men, and this year in particular on prostate cancer. We also do everything we can to increase cohesion between the teams because it is a real relay of information” explains Christophe PUJALTE, Regional Director AGL Congo/DRC and Angola.

For several years AGL Congo and Congo Terminal have organized voluntary screening sessions for staff aged 45 and over. They are invited to adopt a healthy lifestyle and break the silence by encouraging open conversations, mutual assistance and listening.
