Ce Friday November 29 at 6:30 p.m., the association Les Amis de la Médiathèque receives Dr Vincent Fauveau for a conference entitled Fertility in art across ages and cultures. Vincent Fauveau was a doctor, public health teacher and United Nations advisor on maternal health. He is also a collector of art objects evoking fertility, which he has gleaned during his numerous travels.

“For thirty years I have been collecting objects that represent the three phases of fertility: conception and its opposite, infertility, pregnancy and birth. My collection contains objects used for appeals to gods or spirits such as amulets, fetishes and charms but also those which celebrate beauty in all its forms: statuettes, paintings, engravings, photographs”, indicates Vincent Fauveau.

The conference is aimed at the general public who love art and travel. It will also be an opportunity to talk about his book Fertility which contains photographs of objects from its collection but also of works of art from world cultural heritage. “With this book, I would like to transmit my passion to current generations, to health professionals, in particular midwives, to future mothers and to the general public, by sharing the most beautiful of my discoveries. No statistics, no science fundamental, no novel, just a sharing on an absolutely universal subject!”

Vincent Fauveau also exhibits his objects at the fertility museum located at 27 bis rue de La Cavalerie, Beaux-arts district in .
