Screening and preventive measure
Schoolchildren, teachers and all school staff will be screened in the coming days. Tests will include a chest x-ray and an immunological test.
“A meeting will be held this Thursday at the school to explain how the tests will take place and how prevention monitoring will be ensured.“, specified the deputy delegate for education in the city of Libourne, quoted by the newspaper South West .
A disease on the rise
The tuberculosis is a highly contagious bacterial infection transmitted through the air. It particularly affects the lungs, but can also affect other organs such as the brain.
According to a study published by Public Health France, an increase in cases was recorded in 2023, with a total of 4,728 reports in France.
