The summer period has been here for several days and marks the approach of the summer holidays. However, this period also leaves room for many pests like tiger mosquitoes, which are a real scourge in France and abroad.
These mosquitoes are also vectors of diseases that can be very serious, but also fatal. It is therefore
essential to protect yourself in the best possible way, to avoid all risks of contamination. Certain repellents are actually recommended by pharmacists.
Tiger mosquitoes are a real scourge when temperatures warm up
With the official arrival of summer and the return of heat and sunshine, everyone wishes spend more time outdoors. Indeed, it is the ideal time to enjoy lunches or dinners on the terrace, walks by the sea or picnics in the parks. However, some pests such as tiger mosquitoes invite themselves during these precious moments, making them, in fact, difficult to bear. Indeed, in addition to their unpleasant presence with the buzzing they make, their bites prove to cause severe itching.
Tiger mosquitoes are also vectors of diseases such as dengue, malaria and chikungunya. These illnesses can cause severe flu-like symptoms, but can also, in certain cases,
be mortal. It is therefore essential to protect yourself properly from these flying insects in summer, and this, everywhere in France. Indeed, tiger mosquitoes were present in 71 French departments out of 96 last year
compared to 78 this year.
Certain repellents are recommended to combat tiger mosquitoes
Many people are therefore looking for
perfect mosquito repellent. In fact, these insects have developed great resistance to many products, which facilitates their development and expansion in the country. Several repellents have been effectively proven in recent times. Among them, we can first find
repellents containing IR35/35A pharmacist rightly pointed out “There are several products composed of this substance marketed under different brands. There is in particular 5/5 Tropic or even Insect Ecran”. Please note, these products are
strongly not recommended for children under six years old.
UFC-Que Choisir also indicated that repellents created with la substance DEET are more effective against mosquitoes, “The most effective mosquito repellents are based on DEET at concentrations of 25%, 30% or even 50%. They are recommended in all areas where mosquitoes risk transmitting dengue, chikungunya or malaria”. The three highest-rated repellents and containing this substance according toUFC-Que Choisir are the insect Screen Infested areas, rated 18.1/20, the mousti KO High risk areas, rated 18/20 and the moustidose Tropical and risk areas, rated 17.7/20.

Despite the effectiveness of these tiger mosquito repellents, they should be used with caution.
It is still important to note that this type of chemically transformed product can also be
harmful to human body and even more so for young children. It is, in fact, not recommended to use these products on children under six years old and especially,
do not spray it in the eyesmouth or nose or on an open wound.
Furthermore, it is also crucial to respect the dosage. In fact, these effective, but very chemical, repellents should not, in general, be used more than three times a day. A pharmacist rightly indicated “With these repellents, we are dealing with chemistry… There may therefore be a form of neurotoxicity for users ».
