Virginie Billaudeau is responsible for health prevention for Appui & vous Sud-Deux-Sèvres. The association supports vulnerable people at home, to enable them to access care and benefit from better support, whether for health pathologies or loss of physical or psychological autonomy.

What is the role of the association?

Virginie Billaudeau: “It’s social, administrative and health-related at the same time. The idea is to facilitate and coordinate, so that living conditions at home are secure. There are nurses and social workers for this. We do not provide care, but we can intervene in the procedures. This village is part of our prevention actions. The public is invited from 2 p.m. to follow a route. »

“The village offers an easy first contact”

Why this prevention village?

V.B. : “This is the second year that we are setting up this health village, with a set of partners. It is intended for people over 50. The goal is to raise awareness of the importance of prevention and early detection. The two axes are cardiovascular diseases and cancers of the breast, uterus and colon. The public will be able to benefit from screenings for dermatology, kidney disease, heart failure and diabetes. We also want to raise awareness of the importance of all health determinants, such as diet, physical activity, tobacco prevention and vaccination. There are many players in the region who work in these areas, they will be present in the form of stands. We also offer two group workshops, around the prevention of diabetes and skin cancer. »

Is this afternoon also an opportunity for a first contact?

V.B. : “The advantage is that if fragility is detected, we can make an appointment directly. For example, last year, out of one hundred people screened in dermatology, sixteen had a second appointment. The idea is to be able to reassure and facilitate access to care. We know that it is more complicated today. The village offers an easy first contact. The public will also be able to better understand the actions of different professionals and the screenings organized. For example, there will be a midwife, whose role cannot be reduced to supporting a pregnancy. There is always the notion of a health pathway. »

Health prevention village, Thursday November 28, 2024, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., Jacques-Prévert room, in Melle. Free, without reservation.
