According to the survey, 9% of respondents said they had suffered violence in the family before the age of 18, just under 6% in public spaces during their life, and 2% within their relationship. . Regardless of the area where this violence occurs, 2% of men report having been victims of rape or attempted rape in the last 12 months (see table 1 below).

International comparisons of rates of violence experienced are difficult due to differences in survey systems, population boundaries, and question wording. Perceptions and reports of violence vary according to national contexts, public policies and professional training. In , despite better visibility of sexual violence linked to the #MeToo and #MeTooGay movements, this subject remained little present in the public space in 2015-2016, and 86% of respondents reported no violence, although some had reported severe violence. The figures from this survey probably underestimate the true extent of the phenomenon.
