Public health officials in New Brunswick are urging people to get vaccinated after 11 new cases of measles were confirmed in the province.
These new cases were reported in Fredericton and parts of the Haut-Saint-Jean Valley.
According to a release from Public Health, 25 cases of measles have been recorded in New Brunswick since October.
The authorities mention that the situation is evolving. New cases are possible, they warn.
“As the number of cases continues to rise, it is more important than ever for New Brunswickers to ensure they are protected through previous infection or vaccination,” said Dr. Mark McKelvie, regional medical officer of health. The time to act is now.”
Authorities also issued an exposure notice for people who visited the Fredericton Walmart Supercenter from 1:30 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.
Horizon Health Network will be holding vaccination clinics in Fredericton and Carleton North next week.
