Prayssac. Expanded roles for health home nurses

The group of seven nurses and one MSP nurse inform the population of their interventions within the health home. Two offices of four nurses provide ongoing care. They are available from Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. for blood tests, vaccines, etc. Thanks to the MSP, the advantage is to be able to apply protocols due to the presence of doctors on site. Two types of protocols are concerned: that of cystitis for women aged 16 to 65, at the slightest suspicion, they can go to the MSP and one of the eight nurses after an interview will direct them to a doctor or prescribe an antibiotic, this is the strength of the health home.

Another protocol, for allergic rhinitis, same process, patients enter into a precise framework defined with the doctor and depending on the prescription prescribed, nurses can renew it, actions which cannot be done without being at the MSP. The MSP nursing group is also very sensitive to the public health role. Nurses have new vaccination prerogatives and intend to apply them within the MSP in order to be able to vaccinate outside the flu period as well as other prescribed vaccines. Soon there will be the prevention consultation which has been recorded in the law and in the future prerogatives of nurses which will concern certain age criteria of patients, from the beginning of adult life until retirement age, This is currently being implemented at the national level. MSP doctors will be able to educate their patients about the usefulness of prevention for around 30 minutes with the private nurses on duty, which will allow them to see whether the population is being properly monitored and identify possible health problems. The other advantage of the MSP is the coordination between nurses, doctors, midwives, gynecologists, physiotherapists, etc. and on site there is an advanced practice nurse (in the Lot, only two health homes have one). It is a profession between the doctor and the nurse who, with his skills, can monitor chronic patients in collaboration with the doctor. The MSP is doing very well financially and is opening its doors to those who would like to join it.
