A teacher of adapted physical activity, Aurore offers workshops to pregnant women where the main thing is to have a good time… while dancing.

That day, the session took place at the Fief de Grimoire, in . Aurore Paris pushed the furniture in the meeting room, inflated huge balloons and played her playlist. Elise and Emilie, two future mothers, will not be long. Called “dance and pregnancy”, the upcoming workshop is, as its name suggests, dedicated to pregnant women wishing to treat themselves to a little time around dance. Because, “except in cases of medical contraindication, we can dance from the beginning to the end of pregnancy,” assures Aurore. A teacher of adapted physical activity, the young woman first worked with people with reduced mobility, the elderly or people with disabilities, before developing her own activity for future mothers, young parents and babies. “I had just had my first child when I entered Staps and I realized that the teachers were not trained for pregnant women and postpartum. They didn’t know what to make me do. » The young woman took advantage of the Covid period to train on the specificities of pregnant women. And as she had “always danced during [ses] pregnancies”, she quite naturally combined the two, drawing on her long practice. “Classical, jazz, hip-hop, African dance… I tried lots of things,” confides Aurore, who was in primary school when she took her first choreographed steps. Dancing allows you to release all tensions and emotions. She has always been my therapy, she allowed me to take care of myself, of my body. »

Combine business with pleasure

However, there is no need to have already danced to participate in the “dance and pregnancy” workshops that she offers. All future mothers are welcome. “Dance has a beneficial effect against gestational diabetes, weight gain, and it promotes the well-being of the mother and the baby,” emphasizes Aurore. An active mother means a baby who has fewer weight problems afterwards. » Without forgetting that it “also benefits from endorphin, the happiness hormone, produced during physical activity”. This, obviously, must be adapted. After a short warm-up, including “movements that free the pelvis” – potentially useful during the subsequent birth – Aurore offers future mothers a short choreography. “The objective is to disconnect to be in the movement, it remains dynamic without being violent. » No pressure then, just relaxation. “I didn’t re-enroll in dance at the start of the school year,” explains Elise, who is 7 months pregnant, “but I miss it. » Emilie, for her part, came “for discovery”. His memories of dancing are distant. “Above all, I want to relax and have fun,” confides the future mother, in her 8th month of pregnancy. In any case, “it’s not a dance class,” reassures Aurore, “the attention is not paid to technique.” Outside of the Fief de Grimoire, the professional offers her workshops at the midwives’ office in Bel-Air or at Bulle de Bien-être, in Poitiers.
