Faced with the low participation in breast cancer screening, a “Mammobile” was launched by the departmental council, with the support of the ARS. This device is a mobile mammography unit which will travel throughout the department from this Monday, November 4 to make screening more accessible to all.

The screening rate for breast cancer in the Gers is one of the highest in the region. It “is 61.6%”, but “with much lower rates in certain communities of municipalities”, assures Didier-Pier Florentin, departmental delegate of the Regional Health Agency (ARS).

So, to “make breast cancer screening more accessible to all women, wherever they are in the department”, explains Philippe Dupouy, the departmental council, with the support of the ARS, is launching the “Mammobile” , a mobile mammography unit which will travel across the department from this Monday, November 4. Gersoises aged 50 to 74 will be able to have an x-ray and a breast palpation there. The device will be controlled by radio operators as well as doctors and midwives from the Departmental Health Center and the Sexual Health Center.

The “Mammobile” circuit

The first week of November and December, the “Mammobile” will therefore circulate on the roads of the department. Over the next few days, it will be: November 4 at the -sur-Baïse village hall from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.; on November 5 on the Place du Battalion de l’Armagnac in Eauze, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.; November 6 on the Place des Arènes in Plaisance-du-Gers, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.; on November 7, at the Hôtel du Département in , from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

In December, the circuit is as follows: December 2, on Place Odile Lannelongue in Castéra-Verduzan, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.; December 3, on Place Parisot, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.; December 4, in the parking lot of the André-Beaudran hall in Mirande, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.; on December 5, in Riscle (location to be confirmed), from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Screenings are carried out by appointment only on 05 32 48 00 05. This system is reserved for women aged 50 to 74 who have not had a mammogram for two years.
