interview

President since the beginning of 2024 after having assumed different responsibilities within the office of the festivities committee, Ghislaine Le Floch, who replaced Gérard Guioullier as president, who wished to leave his place, takes stock of her first months in this role.

How are your beginnings going?

Ghislaine Le Floch: “After working alongside Gérard as secretary and then treasurer, I accepted a new challenge by agreeing to replace Gérard, who wanted to slow down. Despite some experience, it took me some time to become relatively comfortable in my new responsibilities, but after a few months, things got better.”

What has this changed for you?

“Even if you master the functioning within an office, the position and responsibility of president is something special; you must assume a responsible role, manage the diversity of the task, be the person who initiates, who must be responsible for initiating and leading team work. In a word, you must be able to delegate while supervising the proper functioning of a group. »

What is most surprising about this mission?

“The particular profile of the position, which requires diverse and varied skills, while having the desire to rely on a team. The president must be personally involved, have some leadership skills, be good at human management, demonstrate dynamism while cultivating tolerance. »

Is this new role of president what you imagined?

“My journey with Gérard Guioullier had initiated me quite a bit but I must admit that when you have responsibility, it’s something else. You have to assume, know how to decide eventually, which is not always easy. »

If you had to start again, what would your decision be?

“I think I would do the same thing but, with hindsight and experience, I discover the magnitude of the task which still surprises me somewhat. On this subject, the volunteers in charge would be happy to welcome volunteers to enable the proper functioning of our committee. »
