The Haut de Versac establishment is a Reception Center for Multiple Sclerosis patients located in Saint-Lupicin. It was created in 1991, then integrated into Odynéo since January 1, 2016.
“It is open 365 days, 24 hours a day, for residential reception, and 220 days per year for day reception,” explains Hervé Becquart, the director. This Jura Medical Home specializing in the care of neuro-progressive diseases, has a capacity of 52 beds including 38 for long stay and 3 for day care, including 11 unoccupied due to lack of sufficient caregivers. The patients come from an area covering a proximity of 150 kilometers around. The lack of caregivers also affects us, like many medical and other sectors in France currently.”
The support is part of a global project allowing support projects to be taken into account for each resident.
Well in the race
In this context, the Center received this Friday, May 3, 2024, a man and a woman, “La Cie Valkyrira”, created in 2009 by Valérie Alcantara in Besançon, for an interactive puppet show. It is 4:00 p.m., it is snack time for the residents who invade the multipurpose room little by little, where everyone is served by the service agents with a drink… The puppets in action by the two actors, twirl and sing, talk, argue, in the atmosphere of an open theater facing the residents.
Thus, for more than an hour the show takes place in front of this good-natured and joyful audience. It is a magical moment that brings well-being and sharing to everyone. This show was made possible by the participation of a disabled resident, Bernard Perrin, in the Race of Heroes which is a national and annual event bringing together associations which defend various causes: disability, education, rare diseases, precariousness, etc. and whose winners receive a donation.
The routes are 2, 5 or 8 km. You can run or walk, there is no timer. Bernard Perrin after an ad hoc preparation with the help of the center and with all his determination and will was thus awarded and used the money collected to set up, among other things, this puppet animation for all center.
