Pink October: a forum on women’s health, Wednesday, at Minguettes

The pink ribbon has become the symbol of the fight and awareness of breast cancer

This is an essential and necessary meeting. Every year, Pink October, the breast cancer awareness campaign, is organized around the world. Its goal: to raise awareness of this disease, encourage women to be screened and raise funds for research.

The City of Vénissieux and the Territorial Professional Health Community (CPTS) relay the message locally with a forum entirely dedicated to women’s health on October 16. From 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., at the House of Parties and Families, numerous stands will be offered to inform women on topics related to their health and well-being. Then, from 6 p.m., a round table will be organized to discuss cancer screenings.

For the occasion, several specialists will intervene to answer questions from the public: Doctor Pascal Dureau, general practitioner, Doctor Évelyne Pinard, obstetrician gynecologist at the Portes du Sud Hospital Group, as well as a representative of the Cancer Screening Center. Michèle Picard, mayor of Vénissieux and her deputy Sophia Brikh, responsible for health and women’s rights, will also be present.

The objective is above all to increase information on breast cancer since one in two women are unaware of the risks linked to this disease and 1.7 million are not aware of them at all.

FREE ENTRANCE. Meet on October 16, from 2 p.m., at the Maison des fête et des Familles. The round table will begin at 6 p.m. and will be followed by a buffet.
