Each year, Pink October aims to raise awareness of the importance of early detection of breast cancer and to raise funds for research. This commitment is all the more essential because one in eight women is affected by this cancer. In and around Annecy, many events are organized to support this important cause.

In Annecy, many events are organized to support Pink October, whether by municipalities, the CCAS, or sports and cultural associations. Here is an overview of the planned activities:
- Decorations in town : The Old Town of Annecy is dressed in pink for the occasion, with two arches and floral arrangements installed as the island passes by. This decoration, created by green space agents, demonstrates the City’s strong commitment to raising awareness of breast cancer screening.
- Tour of the lake by bike : On October 20, 2024, take part in the Tour du lac by pedaling against breast cancer. The departure will be given at the general clinic, with a break in Menthon-Saint-Bernard at 10:15 a.m. and a snack in Doussard at 11:45 a.m., before returning to the clinic at 2 p.m. No bike? Partners will lend you some. Oopen to all – €5/person.
- Awareness stand : On October 25, 2024, during the FC Annecy football match at the Sports Park, an awareness stand will be present.
Many businesses in the city, such as pharmacies, restaurants, bakeries, chocolatiers, florists, hairdressers and beauty salons, are also involved in this initiative. For example, the pizzeria Casa Gionatti in Meythet offers a “pink October” pizza throughout the month, while the chocolatier Patrick Agnellet collects donations with his “plume” creation made from heather flower, raspberry, sugared almond emulsion and biscuit.

In the surroundings of Annecy, several events are also organized to support this great cause:
- Swimming in the lake at Duingt : On Saturday October 12, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., take part in a pink bath in Duingt. Gwladys Extremera, medalist in ice water swimming, will offer introductions to cold water swimming. Open to all, access is €5 for initiations and between €10 and €15 for swimming, depending on the distance chosen.
- Selling flowers on the market : The same day, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., find a stand supporting the association “The Women’s Committee for Breast Cancer Screening of 2 Savoie” on the Thônes market. You will be able to buy magnificent cyclamen and roses while talking with a volunteer who is aware of screening.
- Sports day in Saint-Félix : On Sunday, October 13, 2024, come walk, run or play at the Saint-Félix sports complex. This event is organized by Droles de Rames and the Savoies women’s committee for breast cancer screening to raise funds.
- Pink October in Villaz : Also on October 13, the town of Villaz offers a festive and sporting day with activities around breast cancer screening, including a family walk and a Zumba party. T-shirts, bandanas and pins will be sold by the associations. Participation of 2 €/person minimum.
- Color run, concert and dinner : The Balme-de-Thuy Festival committee is organizing an event in favor of Pink October on Saturday October 19, 2024. On the program: from 3 p.m., a color run called “Pink run des Loutambourni” for young and old, followed by a “Vibration rock” concert at 6 p.m., and a dinner with tomme blanche in the evening. Online registration until 10/10.
- Charity run and walk : In Menthon-Saint-Bernard, on Saturday October 19, 2024, take part in a charity race. A 3.6 km loop between lake and peaks, accessible to everyone, families and athletes alike.
- Rugby match : On the Faverges side, a women’s rugby match will take place before the RC Faverges seniors match, on Sunday October 20 from 1:30 p.m.
