The weather of the last few days is not without consequences on pollen. A large part of France is thus at a high level of exposure, according to the National Aerobiological Surveillance Network (RNSA).

A large southern half of the country, with the exception of Savoie and Haute-Savoie, but also part of the Pays de la Loire and Normandy regions are affected by a high level of exposure. The rest of France suffers exposure described as average.

The pollens currently circulating the most in the atmosphere are those of grasses and, to a lesser extent, those of oaks. Grasses are herbaceous plants that are often unbranched and bring together thousands of different species. Their stem is often hollow and their fruits are spikes.

“At a high level in the days to come”

The RNSA explains that the current exposure results from a dual cause. The rains at the beginning of the month initially “brought a little respite to allergy sufferers”, preventing pollen from spreading in the air. But they also allowed vegetation to grow. “The return of warmer and sunny weather this week” is favorable to dispersion and therefore harmful to allergy sufferers.

The network warns that these weather conditions will worsen the situation in the north of France. “The risk of allergy there will quickly rise to a high level in the days to come. »

The start of next week should be rainy. It could therefore offer a new respite to people most sensitive to pollen.
